Patterson goal wraps up comfortable win

ROTHERFIELD UNITED secured a point in their see-saw Premier Division clash at WRAYSBURY VILLAGE on Saturday.

The visitors went into half-time a goal to the good thanks to a strike from Guy Brown after 27 minutes.

However, the hosts equalised on 57 minutes before taking the lead 12 minutes later.

With time running out Ryan Richardson netted the equaliser for United on 88 minutes to earn his side a share of the spoils. The result moved United up to 11th place in the table.

In Division 2 WARGRAVE secured all three points thanks to a comfortable 3-0 home win against TAPLOW UNITED RESERVES.



The match started slowly with both sides producing few shots on goal before Tom Bray netted the opener for the hosts. Just before half-time Callum Hunter doubled his side’s lead.

Taplow chased the game in the second half but Wargrave created more chances of the counter attack. The Taplow goalkeeper made a string of good saves before Dan Patterson made it 3-0 late on. The result moved the hosts up one place in the table to fourth.

Elsewhere in the division GORING UNITED went down by the odd goal in a nine-goal thriller at home to BARKHAM ATHLETIC. William Jaycock netted twice and Jack Murray and Matthew Ploszynski got their names on the score sheet for the hosts who eventually lost 5-4.

In Division 4 WARGRAVE RESERVES fought back from 3-1 down with 10 minutes of the match remaining to secure a draw at home to HARCHESTER HAWKS RESERVES.

Earlier in the match Wargrave goalkeeper Liam Pidgeon went off injured but with 10 minutes of the match remaining the shot stopper was brought back on to play up front. Wargrave’s goals came Andy Caldwell, Ernesto Gomes and captain Iack Hatcher. The result keeps Wargrave in sixth spot in the table.

Elsewhere in the division GORING UNITED RESERVES went down 4-0 away to TWYFORD AND RUSCOMBE.
