Adams nets hat-trick for league leaders

SENIOR Division league leaders EMMER GREEN picked up three points in the wind and the rain at PURLEY on Sunday.

The visitors took the lead when Arron Evans got on the end of a header into the box from John Donegan to score his first goal on his first start for the club.

Lorenzo Medford made it 2-0 after Sam Sheppard’s long throw in landed with him turning and ran towards goal, skipping past the defender to find himself one-on-one with the keeper. With just the keeper to beat Medford kept his composure and fired home.

Purley had an opportunity to pull one back when they were awarded a penalty after Jordan Cox handled in the box but Green’s keeper Phil Brown guessed the right way and made a vital save whilst Andy Rossiter was first to react to make sure the ball was cleared.

In the second half Ryan Adams made it 3-0 after Lorenzo Medford put in a good run down the left and crossed to Adams who hit it first time.

Adams grabbed a brace when Jordan Cox’s free kick dropped to Adams who took a touch and finished with his left.

Emmer Green scored their fifth when Luke Donegan got on the end of a pinpoint cross from Ryan Adams who headed the ball into the top right hand corner.

Adams wasn’t finished and got his hat-trick after Medford took his man on down the left and pulled it back for a cross. The Purley keeper got a touch but could only parry the ball to Adams’ feet who made no mistake and hit it first time to rattle the net to make it 6-0 to the visitors.

Sonning Common side SC UNITED have withdrawn from Division 1. United were second from bottom in the league table having won just one of their 10 matches in which they drew two others and lost the remaining seven.
