Impressive first half display secures final spot

WARGRAVE eased into the Berkshire Trophy Centre Intermediate Cup final last Saturday following a comfortable 8-2 victory against MORTIMER RESERVES.

Wargrave took the lead after five minutes when Joe Wigmore headed home from a Joseph Danelian corner.

Sam Wild and Stuart Moss then helped themselves to four and two goals respectively taking Wild to 30 goals in 14 games and Moss to 21 in 15 games.

Wild made it 2-0 with a fine finish with his right foot before slotting home from close range with his weaker right foot to make it 3-0 before Mortimer pulled a goal back.

Moss made it 4-1 before Wild scored his hat-trick to make it 5-1 before netting his fourth to make it 6-1. Moss made it 7-1 from the penalty spot after Danelian was brought down.

In the second half Mortimer made it 7-2 with five minutes to go before Callum Hunter scored from close range after good work from Gregg Smith in stoppage time.

Wargrave will now face Westwood United Reserves in the final at the Rivermoor Stadium on April 26.
