Drama as Red Kites keeper is knocked out

Henley Town 2, Wokingham & Emmbrook 4

THE visit of WOKINGHAM AND EMMBROOK to the Triangle Ground on Saturday ended with the match being abandoned late-on following an injury to HENLEY keeper Steven Fairchild, writes Tony Kingston.

Fairchild was knocked unconscious with just two minutes left on the clock and the referee took the decision to call off the match before the keeper was taken to hospital in Reading for checks.

The match got off to the fairly evenly-balanced start but midway through the first half Luke Scope capitalised on a mix-up in the Red Kites defence between the goalkeeper and his central defenders.

After 25 minutes Town replaced debutant Liam Besant at left-back with Sam Rolfe.
