Cup holders crash out

LAST season’s losing Tilehurst Charity Cup finalists got their revenge on holders Emmer Green on Sunday at the Recreation Ground.

Emmer Green got off to a bad start by giving away a penalty in the first minute. A slip at the back allowed a Dee Road striker in and he was tripped by Chris Pilling. The Dee Road penalty take netted from the resulting kick, sending Mark Compton the wrong way.

The visitors doubled their lead when a dangerous ball across goal led to James Cross getting back well for the hosts but this led to him putting through his own net for an own goal.

In the second half Emmer Green created chances with Richie Froude, Dave Mortimer, Luke Donegan and Chris Read all going close.
