HENLEY TOWN displayed solid teamwork to register a comfortable Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 East victory over Chinnor at the Triangle on Tuesday, writes Graham Harris.
Chinnor struggled to find their rhythm throughout the evening, visible frustration leading to five yellow cards, as opposed to the Red Kites’ one.
Two minutes after Henley kicked off, Karl Sims’ pinpoint cross found Matt Godwin who made no mistake with a well-flighted shot to put the Red Kites ahead.
Henley mounted more attacks, Howell, Graham Sims and Clark coming close to increasing the lead while goalkeeper Taunton continued to be kept busy for the visitors.
The Red Kites’ second goal arrived after 32 minutes, Louis Howell rising well to head home past a helpless Taunton. Soon after Godwin and Graham Sims both saw shots go just over the crossbar.
