What a difference a few days make

MOODS fluctuate wildly at this stage of the season. A 1-0 win at Charlton leads to ecstatic celebration, and then a couple of days later a 3-1 defeat at Bournemouth plunges fans into a miserable gloom.

There is no middle ground, and the reactionary behaviour is schizophrenic.

There has been a nagging doubt for all Reading fans this season. The team may have been sixth in the table most of the year, but there has been the feeling the whole show will spectacularly crash any moment.

To most observers they have lacked the consistent quality to be serious contenders for promotion.

They have grafted out some efficient wins, and shown glimpses of brilliance, but in a 46 game season consistency is the key commodity.
