FC BAPCO leapfrogged EMMER GREEN into second place in the Premier Division after running out
4-1 winners at the Recreation Ground.
Emmer Green started brightly and took a first-half lead when Joe Roff finished well after a neat combination involving forward players Jordan Lovelock and Luke Maze.
Emmer Green were unable to sustain their early momentum as Bapco took control of proceedings in the second half, dominating possession and asserting themselves in midfield. Sustained pressure and a higher tempo saw the visitors score four unanswered goals to completely swing the contest in their favour. In Division 1, GORING UNITED crashed to a 4-0 defeat at second placed GC UNITED’S Woodford Park. HENLEY EXILES went down to a 5-1 defeat away to undefeated Division 5 league leaders THE OAK TREE.
The visitors started brightly but it was The Oak Tree that took the lead against the run of play.
Two rash challenges in the box from the Exiles allowed the home side to stretch their lead with two penalty kicks. Henley showed some good character in the second half and kept on trying to get back into the game. However, two more goals from The Oak Tree put them out of sight.
Late in the game, the Exiles got the reward when Aaron Bishop launched the ball forward, causing confusion for the defenders and Luke Davis latched on to the ball to tuck it away neatly past the goalkeeper.
