Warren leads the way to lift top prize

NEWLY appointed Henley Golf Club president Geoff Luckett held his inaugural President’s Day last week.

Ironically it was a former president of another club, Roger Warren, who beat the other 126 players on the day with a score of 39 points.

New member Warren, previously president of Flackwell Heath Golf Club, took the main prize on countback from Gordon Capel. Mike Farina was third with 38 points whilst Mervyn Piper, Ray Ponsford, Richard Wilson, Tim Arnold, Andrew Carmichael and Martyn Metcalfe were the only other competitors to beat their handicaps with 37 points.

The ladies’ competition was won by Helga Keay with 35 points.
