DESPITE a spirited performance, Watlington Town are still awaiting their first North Berks Division 1 league win of the season as they went down 2-1 away to Dorchester.
In a game of two halves, the home side came firing out of the blocks and quickly found themselves 2-0 up. The town were unable to fashion any real chances in the first half although did cause trouble from set pieces.
The introduction of Nick Thompson in the second half appeared to rally Watlington, and midway through the half, Pete Ashman pounced on a loose pass from Dorchester to fire Watlington to within one goal with 20 minutes to play.
Watlington continued to dominate possession for the remainder of the game with substitute Thompson’s powerful drive flying just wide after some great link-up play with Ashman.
