DESPITE most of the local football fixtures being postponed for the second week running due to the weather, WHITCHURCH HILL U10s managed to play twice last weekend.
In their first match the side advanced to the semi-finals of the Slough and Windsor Open Trophy after beating WINDSOR ELITE U10s 3-2.
A brace from Hosni Elarfa and a good strike from Lewis Rosi secured the win in a game that saw Max Hanshaw named man of the match.
In their second match WHITCHURCH HILL U10s, competing a year above their age group, beat A League side DIDCOT CASUALS U11s 3-1 in the Slough and Windsor Open Trophy. After a goalless first half Didcot took the lead from the penalty spot with five minutes remaining before Whitchurch hit back with three goals in three minutes to advance into the quarter-finals. Goals came from Justin Davis, Hosni Elarfa and Kieran Brocks while the man-of-the-match award went to striker-turned-goalkeeper Sam Rahaley who pulled off several good saves.
