Green wraps up scoring as hosts thrash twin-town SC Leichlingen

AFC HENLEY U13s ran out comfortable winners against twin-town side SC Leichlingen U13s at Jubilee Park.

AFC HENLEY U13s ran out comfortable winners against twin-town side SC Leichlingen U13s at Jubilee Park.

Leichlingen started the match with some neat passing football while Henley attempted to use the speed of their wingers to get forward.

After seven minutes Henry Harmer in the Henley goal launched a long kick which the Leichlingen defence misjudged, allowing Jack Earl through to give the hosts an early lead.

The Henley central defenders of Owen Darani and James Goulden were providing the home side with a solid base on which to build their game, allowing Merlin Hempshall at fullback to push forward.

Edward Hudec was brought on to good effect and in the 21st and 24th minutes Henley extended their lead. The first saw shots from Drew Chester and Emil Rayfield blocked before Chester fired the third rebound into the net. The second was a fine passing move finished by Ryan Lynskey.

The second half opened with a four-goal Henley burst to effectively end the game as a contest. A Chester shot was saved and Rayfield turned in the rebound, and then, from a Henley corner, Lynskey rifled his second into the top corner. Earl scored his second direct from another Henley corner before Chester scored his second and Henley’s seventh with a powerful shot.

Leichlingen battled back with some more neat passing football but could not find a way to negate the Henley midfield of Morgan Taylor, Dominic Meeks and Max Gosby. Henley continued to probe with Joe Neighbour and Matthew Kernick pushing forward on the right and left respectively and with three minutes left a scramble in the Leichlingen area was finished at close range by Harry Green to make it eight for Henley.
