Hawks on the up

HENLEY HURRICANES U11s returned to winning ways on Saturday with a comfortable 3-0 home win over ASHRIDGE PARK U11s.

HENLEY HURRICANES U11s returned to winning ways on Saturday with a comfortable 3-0 home win over ASHRIDGE PARK U11s.

The first half saw some good football being played by both sides but with neither goalkeeper being seriously tested.

The deadlock was broken early in the third quarter after Jem McAllister finished calmly following a goal mouth scramble.

Henley doubled their advantage after some determined closing down by Jamie Hudson resulted in the ball falling to Adam Palmer in the box who made no mistake with the finish to register his first goal for the Hurricanes.

Henley’s third came when Lucas Pestana was on hand to follow up when a McAllister cross rebounded off the visiting keeper. Henley’s defence, led by man-of-the-match Oli Leeman, saw out the remainder of the match.

AFC HENLEY HAWKS U11s’ winning streak continued with a hard fought 2-0 home win against bottom-of-the-table BRACKNELL TOWN GALAXY U11s at Jubilee Park.

The first half was goalless with the Hawks showing quick passing and dogged determination while goalkeeper Alex Tams pulled off several good saves.

In the second half Sammy Philips fired the home side into the lead. The Hawks kept up the momentum as man-of-the-match Abhishek Thapa sealed the victory soon after.

The win pushes the Hawks up to the middle of the East Berks League table.
