HAMBLEDEN went down to the odd goal in seven away at FC Oakridge in the Premier Division of the Wycombe and District League.
Hambleden started brightly but after an early injury to goalkeeper Butler after five minutes Oakridge pressed on and raced into a 3-0 half-time lead.
After a change of formation at half-time Hambleden looked the better side but were dealt a blow when the hosts netted their fourth of the game against the run of play.
With 15 minutes of play remaining Hambleden mounted a comeback as they pulled back three goals.
The first goal was scored direct from a corner by Marcus Cook. Five minutes later captain Adam Markwell reduced the arrears with a tap-in from three yards.
Two minutes later Cook added his second of the game from the penalty spot.
Hambleden pushed for a late equaliser but Oakridge held on to secure all three points.
