The Kites adapted quicker and took the lead on 13 minutes when man-of-the-match Ben Clark delivered a pinpoint cross from the right to the advancing Grant Kemp who volleyed home from 10 yards.
Ryan Witt showed good strength two minutes later winning the ball from the Chalfont midfielders and after fending off two players he was able to get the ball to the unmarked Sean Moore out on the left. Mooreâ??s cross shot was fumbled by the home keeper and Clark was able to poach from close range.
Henley were starting to look comfortable and on the half hour mark a good delivery from Clark on the left touchline found Billy Gordon in the box. Gordon brought the ball down and laid it off to Asa Povey who drilled it low to force the Wasps keeper into producing a fine save.
Henley applied more pressure in the last 10 minutes of this first half as chances were created for Moore, Gordon and Povey.
In the second half Henley again started the stronger. On 51 minutes Grant Kemp was fouled just outside the box in which he picked himself up and hit an unstoppable shot that the Wasps keeper pushed into his own net.
This goal took the sting out of the Wasps' tails and following this the Henley keeper Ashley East was barely threatened.
Henley brought on all three substitutes during a 10 minute window in Daniel Faherty, Louis Howell and Matt Godwin. These changes enabled the Kites to maintain pressure on Chalfont for the remainder of the half.
Three minutes from time Howell delivered a free kick from out on the left wing into the box allowing defender Richard Thomas to score with a glancing header.
Henley Town: East, Cooper, Thomas, Povey, Baxter (Faherty, 58 mins), Nunn, Kemp, Witt (Howell, 63 mins), Clark, Gordon, Moore (Godwin, 70 mins).
