THE chances of Sonning Common and Peppard B avoiding the drop from Division 1 of the Reading and District League now look slim after they lost 8-2 at Kingfisher C.

Simon Berry picked up two wins but both Nigel Maltby and Brian Meheux found the Kingfisher trio too hot to handle.

The C team are safe in Division 2 despite losing 6-4 at Polish A after being 4-1 ahead. Both Matt Stone and Danny Dockree won twice but the pair just lost out in the crucial doubles set 11-7, 8-11, 9-11, 11-9, 11-13.

In Division 3 the D team drew 5-5 with Birch Copse A, Alan Mollet leading the way with a treble.

The F team held promotion outsiders Kingfisher J to a creditable 5-5 draw, Angus Jones winning the decisive set against John Creighton 7-11, 11-9, 15-13, 8-11, 11-9.



The E team only had two players for their trip to Curzon Club C, Joe Barraclough getting a valiant treble in a 6-4 defeat.

Dave Aust’s treble and two from Nicolas Novak saw the G team topple promotion contenders Tidmarsh F 6-4 in Division 5 while Jamie Legg clinched a 6-4 win for the H team as they beat Springfield, Jamie beating Robert Atack 11-9, 11-7, 14-16, 12-10 for the win.
