EMMER GREEN closed the gap at the top of the Senior Division to three points as they triumphed 2–1 away to BARTON ROVERS.
The visitors never got off to the best of starts as goalkeeper Mark Compton went down injured in the warm–up so David Mortimer took over between the sticks.
Emmer Green took the lead when a Rovers keeper held on to the ball too long and allowed Chris Read to chase down and block the clearance and for it to go high into the back of the net.
Richard Eastwood, Chris Read and Daniel Donegan all went close to adding to the score just before half–time.
In the second half the hosts came back into the game and equalised with a tidy finish into the bottom corner.
Eastwood and Read both went close for the visitors while on 75 minutes the visitors had a penalty appeal turned down.
Emmer Green grabbed the winning goal when Daniel Donegan ran past a Rovers defender to find left back Chris Pilling at the back post for him to have an easy finish.
In Division 4 West basement side GORING UNITED RESERVES crashed to a 7–2 defeat at home to YPFC.
