Nowell scores hat-trick to put side in seventh heaven

PREMIER Division side WOODCOTE/STOKE ROW rediscovered their goalscoring touch with a seven-goal blitz at home

PREMIER Division side WOODCOTE/STOKE ROW rediscovered their goalscoring touch with a seven-goal blitz at home against HURST.

The home side scored inside the first minute when a Gareth Evans throw was hooked-on by Ross Weatherstone and leading scorer Toby Nowell was on hand to supply the finishing touch at the far post.

Woodcote went 2-0 up after 23 minutes when Mike Hancock scored with a close-range header from Frank Dillon’s cross.

The goal of the game came six minutes later with Ross Weatherstone rifling home from an inch-perfect pass by Jonny Summers to make it 3-0.

Before the break it was 4-0 as Toby Nowell headed home at the far post from Frank Dillon’s corner kick.

Woodcote’s dominance continued into the second-half, but the fifth goal did not arrive until the 75th minute, when Nowell’s cross was finished from close-range by man-of-the-match, Frank Dillon.

Two minutes later, Dillon’s free kick made it 6-0, though substitute, James Worsfold, may have made enough contact to claim the goal.

On 83 minutes, Toby Nowell achieved his hat-trick to complete a miserable day for Hurst which was compounded by a late sending-off for the visitors for a second yellow card.

ROTHERFIELD UNITED remain in relegation trouble as they languish second-from-bottom in the table after they went down 5-1 away to title-chasing MARLOW UNITED.

Mark Sumner was on target for the visitors who now find themselves four points adrift of safety with just four league matches of the season remaining.

Division 1 side SONNING will finish the season bottom of the table, despite having one match of the season remaining, after losing out 4-3 to their closest rivals ASHRIDGE PARK.

Division 2 relegated side GORING UNITED ended their league campaign with a 4-2 victory away to basement side TAPLOW UNITED RESERVES.

The hosts took the lead with a strike from the edge of the box after 15 minutes.

Goring drew level on the half-hour mark when an Ed Ardill strike flew past the keeper. Goring United took control of the game in the second half playing some good football and scoring three goals.

Jack Purser scored with a header after 55 minutes to level the scores before Jack Murray headed Goring United into the lead after 70 minutes.

Murray netted his second of the match and Goring United’s fourth from the penalty spot to complete the scoring.

In Division 4 GORING UNITED RESERVES lost their final match of the season as they went down 6-1 at home to AFC ALDERMASTON. Jon Williams netted Goring’s only goal of the game in a result that leaves them in the bottom two.

Elsewhere in the division ROTHERFIELD UNITED RESERVES lost out 3-2 at home to AFC CORINTHIANS RESERVES. Michael Hunt and Billy Roberts were the scorers for the Bishopswood side.
