FREE-SCORING Hugh Barklem was in fine form once again as HENLEY YMCA UNITED thrashed DELTA VIGO 9-1 for the second consecutive week in Division 4 East.

Barklem netted five goals in last Sunday’s rout having bagged all nine against the same opponents the previous week.

The on-song striker has now scored 26 goals in six league appearances for the Lawson Road side.

The hosts took the lead when a Tom Chaplin run down the right saw him cut inside a defender before firing home into the bottom corner.

Soon after Barklem was fouled outside the box after beating a defender. He picked himself up and scored from the resulting free kick, smashing the ball low into the bottom left.

Chaplin then whipped in a corner which was flicked in at the near post by Tom Essam to give YMCA a 3-0 half-time lead. Early in the second half a Stevens through ball picked out Barklem who netted his second of the match. The visitors pulled a goal back after scoring at the back post to make it 4-1. Stevens made it 5-1 with his second of the match when he headed home a Chaplin corner.

Substitute Kieran Butler made an immediate impact when he came on as he ran through the midfield beating several players before setting up Stevens who completed his hat-trick.

Barklem completed his hat-trick to make it 7-1 when the ball fell to him after the keeper parried a Steve Kennedy shot.

Good defensive work from Aidan Prior stopped a rare Delta Vigo attack before he then played a ball down field to Callum Butler who flicked it on and Barklem let it bounce before unleashing an unstoppable volley from 30 yards to make it 8-1.

With time running out Chaplin shot for goal and the ball fell to Barklem who netted his fifth of the game.
