ROTHERFIELD UNITED crashed to a 4-1 Premier Division defeat at Bishopswood against MORTIMER last Saturday.
The first half was a tight affair with both teams limited to one chance each. Mortimer winger Paul Taplin misfired from six yards as Rotherfield failed to defend a set piece and towards the end of the half Markland Tidswell fired over for the hosts after some good work from Matt Slater.
Rotherfield took the lead in the second half as Ed Bickerton was adjudged to have been brought down in the box. Ricky Sidhu stepped up and fired his penalty into the top corner.
United couldn’t hold on to their lead as the referee award the visitors a spot kick which they converted. Mortimer then scored two scrappy goals to give them a two-goal advantage.
Ricky Sidhu went close with six minutes to go as Ahmet Tuney was brought down in the box, but unfortunately this time his search for the top corner saw his penalty go wide. Mortimer scored again on the break as Rotherfield pushed forward.
In Division 2 WOODCOTE/STOKE ROW RESERVES continued their good run with an emphatic 5-1 away win at WARGRAVE.
Ryan Brown netted four goals for the visitors while Rob Lynch also got his name on the score sheet. Stuart Moss was on target for the hosts.
Elsewhere in the division basement side HIGHMOOR U21s recorded their first win of the season as they ran out 2-1 winners at GORING UNITED. Adam Williams was on target for the hosts.
In Division 3 ROTHERFIELD UNITED RESERVES went down to a 3-2 defeat at WHITE EAGLES RESERVES. Michael Hunt and Luke Maze were on target for the visitors.
In Division 4 WARGRAVE RESERVES crashed to a 4-0 defeat at home to BERKS COUNTY ROVERS.
