HENLEY TOWN slipped to a heavy home defeat against high-flying Bracknell Town in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division at the Triangle on Tuesday night.
On a heavy pitch the Robins attacked the Red Kites’ goal from the start and took the lead in the sixth minute through Joe Grant. The classy Bracknell side continued to attack and if it wasn’t for the agility of Henley goalkeeper Matt Hill and his courageous defenders the visitors could have scored a lot more goals before Grant notched up his second in the 23rd minute.
Although it was mostly the visitors on the front foot Henley did manage the occasional attack with Seve Mayberry prominent down the right flank with Michael Davies and Reece Buckett going close.
The second half was mostly one-way traffic towards the Henley goal with the Red Kites having the occasional rush forward towards the other end.
Hill and his defenders managed to stop Bracknell scoring their third goal until the 70th minute when Khalid Cenussi netted.
Bracknell wrapped up the socring with goals from Adam Cornell in the 82nd minute and Grant completing his hat-trick four minutes from time.
The visitors, whose support made up the majority of the almost 100 crowd, moved up to fourth place in the league while Henley remain in relegation trouble.
