Free-scoring Barklem nets double hat-trick for YMCA

KIDMORE END moved up to fourth place in the Senior Division thanks to a 4-2 win away at local rivals EMMER GREEN.

Played on a heavy pitch it was Emmer Green who made the better start with a couple of good crosses from wide that were well dealt with by Kidmore End.

Kidmore started to grow into the game and the impressive Mo Davis having a decent effort deflected just wide. From the resulting corner new signing Luka hit the outside of the post with snap shot. Five minutes later Kidmore took the lead when Tom Basketfield fired in from 25 yards.

Kidmore almost doubled there lead when Davis hit the bar and Adam White followed up with a volley which the Emmer Green keeper saved.

Richard Eastwood thought he had equalised for the hosts when his shot hit the back of the net but his effort was ruled out for offside.

Emmer Green dominated the final 15 minutes of the half and levelled the scores on the stroke of half time when Chris Read bundled home after the Kidmore End keeper had parried a long range shot.

In the second half the visitors brought on Mitchell Parker who turned the game with his pace and trickery as he immediately set up Adam White to make it 2-1 following a good run and cross.

Five minutes later a long ball from the back sent Parker through who lobbed the on-rushing keeper.

Emmer green threw everything at Kidmore and eventually pulled a goal back through Eastwood.

In the last minute Emmer Green had a free kick which saw their keeper Mark Compton come up for. However, Kidmore cleared their lines and Parker scored his side’s fourth into an open goal.

In Division 4 East Hugh Barklem netted another six goals to take his tally to 32 in seven matches as HENLEY YMCA UNITED thrashed AFC CHALFONT 8-0 at Harpsden.

United opened the scoring when Adam Henley played in Barklem for his first of the match. Soon after Barklem made it 2-0 when he won the ball off a defender before firing home.

Early in the second half a move involving Kieran Butler and Dan Hayden led to Barklem completing his hat-trick. Henley made it 4-0 when a Tom Chaplin corner was headed home by Rhys York.

Barklem netted his fourth and his side’s fifth following good by Butler before Tom Essam headed home number six.

Chaplin set up Barklem for United’s seventh of the game before the in-form striker completed his double hat-trick after running from the half-way line to score.
