Britton charms estate visitors

TV presenter Fern Britton charmed visitors during the filming of a new TV series made at the Mapledurham Estate.

The Big Allotment Challenge, which is being shown on BBC 2 on every Tuesday evening, was filmed over four months last summer.

The six-part series is presented by Britton and the judges are Jim Buttress of the Royal Horticultural Society, former Telegraph food writer Thane Prince and florist Jonathan Moseley.

Estate secretary Lola Andrews said: “We hardly noticed the crew when they were here. They were no bother at all and it was lovely to get a bit of use out of that side of the estate.

“Fern was absolutely charming. She popped round to have a look at the mill after filming one day and had a chat with some of the visitors. We would absolutely love to have them back if they decide to do a second series.”
