LARS GLEIE returned a net score of 65 to win Division 1 in the West Challenge Cup at Reading Golf Club on Saturday in a competition that had 89 players competing.
Gleie, playing off an 11-handicap, hit a gross 76 score to take the honours from Arthur Manser in second place with a net 66 and Cliff Denton third on 68.
On Tuesday of last week three players played 72 holes of golf where they walked more than 20 miles over the four rounds in the Longest Day Challenge.
Club shop manager Jamie Sparrow, Darren Rapley and Jason Macbeth started the fundraising event at 5am and finished just after 8.30pm, recording a Stableford score of 305 points.
In all the day raised just over £900 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
