HENLEY GOLF CLUB held its Seniors Championship on Monday and it was Nigel Woolven, husband of ladies’ captain Sally who claimed the title with a score of 76.
He was matched by Alan Clarke but he missed out following a three-hole play-off. John Lynch was third with 79.
Will York won the handicap competition with a score of 66 which was one shot better than runner-up Gordon Edwards.
Peter Falle was successful in the over-70s category with a score of 71 whilst former captain Mike Mogridge claimed the over-80s prize with 76.
Last Sunday, the club held its Jubilee Cup competition which was won by John Baker with a score of 67.
Gordon Capel was runner-up with 69 on countback from Marcel Petrie, whilst another former captain, Ray Ponsford, was fourth with 70.
The ladies’ section held the second round of the Norton Cup last week.
Helga Keay was successful in Division 1 with a score of 70 which was one shot better than runner-up Jane Atkin. Ladies’ champion Clare Dodds was third with 72.
Division 2 was won by Caroline Archibald with a net 74 on countback from Ngairey Palin, Erica Brady and Liz Plews.
Tracey Ellis took Division 3 with a 72 score which was two shots better than second-placed Alison Weir whilst Sheila Needham claimed Division 4 with 73 which was one shot better than Caroline Thomas.
Meanwhile, Gill Mitchell recorded a hole-in-one on the seventh hole.
