THE annual running of the Lovell Bowl took place last Saturday at Henley Golf Club, a 36 hole competition equivalent to the club championship but with handicaps taken into consideration.
After the morning round Jason Livy and Peter Muhley were joint leaders on net 67 which was two shots better than Guy Outram and Alan Wilson.
Muhley played well in the afternoon and another sub par round of 66 won him the competition with a net 133 overall which was four shots better than runner-up Outram. Alan Wilson finished third with a score of 139 (one under par) which was a shot better than Livy.
The ladies’ section held their medal last week which resulted in a win for Rachel Hall in Division 1 with a score of net 69 which was a shot better than runner-up ladies’ captain Sally Woolven. Maddy Field was third with a net 73.
Division 2 was claimed by Gill Mitchell with a net 72 which was one shot better than Caroline Archibald whilst Tracey Ellis took Division 3 with another sub par round of 69 which was two shots better than Fay Ahara. Andrea Smith was a shot further behind in third place.
The best score of the day was reserved for Division 4 where Jan Gould’s net 68 claimed top spot by five shots from runner-up Caroline Thomas.
Good scoring was recorded on Monday when the seniors held a Stableford competition. Coming out on top was the inform Rob Ellerby with a score of 42 points which was one better than runner-up Andre Jolly. John Mitchell was third with 39 points which was one point better than Barry Liggins, Richard Sessions, Geoff Foster and Mike Walker.
