Golfers raise £16,500 for Chiltern Centre

GOLFERS raised £16,500 for the Chiltern Centre for disabled children in Henley.

The charity was chosen by Henley Golf Club captains Ann Thomas and Bob Thomas who presented the cheque before the annual lady captain’s dinner and thanked their members for their support and generosity.

Women at the two-course dinner were entertained by a barber shop quartet which sung a medley of hits from the past century.

Mrs Thomas gave a short speech and presented prizes from a golf competition from earlier that day.

Chiltern Centre fund-raiser Liz Deacon, who received the cheque, said: “We are so very grateful to Ann and Bob and the members of Henley Golf Club for working so hard over the last 12 months to raise such an enormous amount.

“Each year the pressure on grant applications becomes greater and we rely more and more on support from our community.

“This money will enable us to keep the centre open and support local families who desperately need respite care for their disabled children.”
