CAVERSHAM Heath golfer Jane Weller has started well in her pursuit of her second Anne Bryant Trophy - a county knockout competition.
The reigning champion sent out a strong message in the first round of this year’s competition when she beat her opponent on the 10th hole.
Caversham men defeated Bradfield 4.5-1.5 in a friendly match, with Paul Clemas and Ian Gaff winning their match 8 and 6.
A mixed match against Castle Royle proved a classy affair with a birdie blitz in the opening game between ladies’ captain Issy Wiggins-Turner and Clive Adamson and the Castle Royle captains. There were nine birdies in this match alone, six of them on the front nine. Castle Royle won 4-2.
John Winstanley recorded a hole-in-one in the R and A knockout. John and his playing partner Greg McDonald won the match against Adrian Ford and Scott Iremonger 2 and 1.
