Invitation honours for Ponting and Sinclair

BADGEMORE PARK’S pro-am tournament held last Friday was won by Little Angle Angles, made up of J Templar, D Green, A Clarke and H Dunlop. The winning professional was J Winfield who shot a level par 69.

Saturday saw the first of the open anniversary competitions on which the weather played a big part. The format for this competition was teams of four where the best two net scores are taken. This was the first time it was decided to have a shotgun start.

After four holes play was stopped as the greens became unplayable. Play did resume about an hour-and-a-half later after the rain had stopped and play was only possible after good work by the club professional Daniel Hawkins and vice-captain Danny Fois, who managed to clear all the greens of excess water.

The winning team with a score of 132 net (six under par) were B Hollis, J McQuilkin, D Hurn and A McQuilkin.

Scoring was better on Sunday due to improved weather conditions. The winning team, returning a 122 net (16 under par) were D Haddock, M Nash, C Miller and his father G Miller.
