Clarke hits hole-in-one

INFORM Tim Arnold took the honours in the annual Floate Cup at Henley Golf Club last week.

Arnold, a nine handicapper, took the honours with a net score of 67. Later in the week Arnold hit a hole in one at Donnington Valley in Newbury.

Len Leigh scored a net 69 to take the runner-up spot on countback from Alvin Smith, Steve Webb and Bob Thomas. Level par 70s were recorded by Daniel Lebeau, Chris Maxted and Nick Grainger whilst Alan Clarke recorded a hole-in-one on the seventh hole which earned him a bottle of champagne from Hotel du Vin.

The ladies’ section ran their “Hole-in-One” trophy in conjunction with a Stableford competition and this was won by Lucy Terris with a score of 34 points. The Silver A section was won by Alyson Warren with 35 points whilst Rita Sharman-Crawford took Silver B with 30 points.

The Bronze A was won by Gill Mitchell with 35 points while Carol Willson took Bronze B with 36.
