GORING and Streatley Golf Club has selected the Jonathan Draycott Golf Academy to provide its golfing services.

The selection of the academy expands the club’s range of services to its members and visitors, and forms part of its ongoing commitment to bring good golf and hospitality to the community.

The club’s manager, Mike Evans, said: “We’re excited about the future of Goring and Streatley Golf Club with Jonathan on board. He is a local golf professional, originally from Wallingford, who shares our passion and vision for providing the very best of golf to the Berkshire-Oxfordshire area. He brings a wealth of golfing knowledge to newcomers and experienced players alike.”

A former captain of the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire county golf team, Draycott played on the PGA EuroPro Tour in 2003 and qualified for the British Open in 1997 and 1998. With a score of 64, he currently holds the record at Huntercombe the club where his early love of the sport began.

Draycott said: “I started playing at the age of four. Golf is a valuable and exciting sport for young people. That’s why the club’s junior academy forms such an important part of what we’re doing. We’re committed to offering enjoyable, quality golf to every age, to every member of the family, and growing our services for the community as a whole.”

As part of this commitment, Draycott and his team will be on site offering GolfMark accredited group classes and one-to-one coaching, as well as a professional club fitting service.

The club has also refurbished its pro shop and opened its bar and restaurant to non-members.
