Purnell takes stableford honours

JOHN PURNELL fought off stiff opposition to take the Division 1 prize in the April weekend Stableford at Caversham Heath.

JOHN PURNELL fought off stiff opposition to take the Division 1 prize in the April weekend Stableford at Caversham Heath.

Purnell recorded 37 points, one more than runner-up Christopher Green with 36 points with David Stankard a further point behind in third place with 35 points.

It was also close in Division 2 with Anthony George taking the honours with 36 points. Robin McEvoy was second with 35 points and third was Stuart Errington on countback from Wendy Bushell, both with 34 points.

The top scorer of the day was Roy Darch who recorded a massive 44 points to take the Division 2 top spot. Runner-up was Glen Dudman with 40 points and third was Sue Parcell with 37.

There was a very tight finish to the March monthly medal. Conor Kavanagh took the honours with a net 71. Matthew Evans was second with a net 72 and third was Gareth Ford with a net 73. Only one point separated the top three in Division 2 with Barney Wytchard snatching the top spot with a net 70. Runner-up was Christopher Bennett on countback from Anne Smith, both with a net 71.

There was a similar story in Division 3 with Stuart Errington winning with a net 72. Second was Geoff Parlour with a net 73 and third was Lynne Rumbold with a net 74.

Kathy North scored a net 81 to take the Ladies’ April medal. Lynne Rumbold was runner-up with a net 84.
