Christine breezes to victory

HENLEY Golf Club’s Christine Breeze triumphed in the Oxfordshire Lady Captains’ Association spring meeting for the Jubilee Bowl.

HENLEY Golf Club’s Christine Breeze triumphed in the Oxfordshire Lady Captains’ Association spring meeting for the Jubilee Bowl.

In all 65 ladies took part representing 17 clubs at Springs Golf Club.

Many of the players, from all handicap levels, returned low Stableford scores. At one stage it looked as if 30 points would win it but Breeze prevailed with 36 points from runner-up Margaret Chaundy of Frilford Heath Golf Club who scored 32 points.

The men’s section of Henley Golf Club took part in the annual running of the Jim McDonald Trophy in honour of the past captain who passed away 12 years ago.

Played in the traditional St Andrew’s foursomes format the winning pair were father and son Mike and Mark Farina with 47 Stableford points.

Just one point behind in second place were Anthony Allen and Andy Pye. Gareth Morley and Narendra Yonjan were third on countback with 42 points from the pairing of John Bates and Ian Norris.
