MARK FARINA won the top division at Henley Golf Club’s May medal held last week in windy conditions.

MARK FARINA won the top division at Henley Golf Club’s May medal held last week in windy conditions.

Farina recorded a net 67 off his handicap of four to claim the competition.

Phil Booth was runner-up in Division 1, his net 70 was helped hugely by an albatross two on the par five 18th hole. Richard Wilson was third on countback with a net 70 which was a shot better than Jonny Hill. Ron Jacobs took Division 2 with a net 68 off a 14 handicap earning him the top spot and a one-shot handicap reduction.

Club captain Dave Sexon was runner-up with a net 71 which was a shot better than Andy Williams. Ian Douglas was fourth with a net 73.

Division 3 was won by Rob Edwards with a net 70 on countback from Farina’s father Mike. Paul Osbourne was third with a net 71.

Andy Williams partnered Colin Grimmett to win the Gray Cup with a bogey score of plus-seven against the course.

Past captain and president Ian Johnstone partnered Des Hele to record a score of plus four which was a hole better than Steve Needham and Kenny Kent.

The Henley team of Jane Atkin, Rita Sharman-Crawford and Muriel Quinsac recorded 68 points to take third place at the Oxfordshire Ladies’ County Golf Association’s annual seniors spring three ball alliance competition held at Oxford Golf Club last week. The trio’s score was enhanced with a hole in one for Sharman-Crawford on the fourth hole with an eight iron.
