STUART SHURMAN ran out winner of the Badgemore Park Golf Club’s Club Championship held last weekend.

The 36 hole competition was held over two days. The first days play saw strong winds and heavy showers making it difficult to score low.

John Starky managed to keep the ball in play the most and scored a gross 75 with Alex Harris-White close behind with a gross 78 and both Scott Pearson and Shurman shooting a gross 79.

The final round saw the players heading out in reverse order in testing conditions with the wind much stronger than the first day’s play.

David Haddock set the early lead shooting a gross 73 and when added to his first day’s score of 89 was the leader in the clubhouse with 162 for more than two hours until the last few groups came into view.

In the penultimate group Scott Pearson put together a final round of 81 making him the new leader in the clubhouse on 160.

With only one group to finish, Shurman managed to hit his second shot to around four feet on the last setting himself up for a birdie chance. The putt went in giving him a second round score of 80 and when added to his first round of 79 made him the winner with a 159 gross score.

In the Directors’ Trophy played over the same weekend Julian Falla took the honours with net scores of 69 and 68, with Callum Millar second with net scores of 72 and 66 and Colin Cornwell third with 76 and 66.
