BARRY HAMER ran out winner of Monday’s Veterans Championship held at Hennerton Golf Club.

BARRY HAMER ran out winner of Monday’s Veterans Championship held at Hennerton Golf Club.

The competition for over 65s was contested for by 39 players and scoring was good with over half the field matching or beating their handicap in the Stableford format, with a score of 40 or more points required to make the top 12.

Hamer’s haul of 44 points was just enough ahead of three other players who all posted 43 points. Hamer also saw his handicap reduced by two shots to 15.

The battle for second place had to be sorted out via countback and with Mike Corcoran being named runner up and having his handicap cut to 15 for his efforts. Roger Stapley was third and received a one shot cut in his handicap to 19.

This left Brian Balchin having to settle for fourth place despite also scoring 43 points.
