TOM SWIETEK triumphed in the last strokeplay medal competition of the year held at Hennerton Golf Club last weekend where half the field either beat or matched their handicaps.
Swietek triumphed with a net 57 from his 16 handicap. He finished one shot ahead of the field and saw his handicap cut by one shot to 15. Swietek also claimed the Division 2 prize.
Runner-up was Ian Pollock who posted a net 58, just beating Gary Kulpa on countback. Pollock also finished runner-up to Swietek in Division 2.
Third placed Kulpa was left ruing a bad finish after being just one over par gross through 11 holes. However, he was consoled by winning the Division 3 prize and having his handicap cut by one shot to 19.
Fourth place went to Mike Corcoran who scored a net 61. The Division 1 prize was claimed by Dave Bowler who posted a net 62 off his 12 handicap and sixth place overall whilst Mick Lupton (seven handicap) scored the lowest gross with a five over par 70.
In the ladies’ medal captain Penny Holmes came out on top with a net 59. Liz Deaney finished in second place, five shots behind with a net 64 just beating Di Moss by the one shot as she returned a net 65 to take third place.
