STEVE WEBB, playing off four, took the honours at Henley Golf Club’s annual running of the SSAFA Stableford competition with a score of 42 points.
Webb was two points better than runner-up Euan Fenwick. Adam Baker, Steve Hobbs and Mike Walker recorded scores of 39 points which was a single point better than John Bates, Steve Needham, Keith Brockington and Nick Chiswell in a day which witnessed some high scoring.
Money raised on the day went to the dependents of the armed forces.
President Craig Breeze held his final President/Pro challenge on Saturday, a shotgun start at 8.30am.
Out of 26 better-ball pairs only two teams managed to beat the president/pro better ball medal score of net 65.
Vice-captain elect for next year Stewart Mills and his partner Richard Fenn recorded eight gross three which included an eagle three on the 18th hole on their way to a net 62 to win the competition.
Rick Hillier and Paul Bradford recorded a net 63 to take second place and win a prize of golf balls.
