THE last medal of the calendar year was played at Hennerton last weekend.

Despite the course beginning to play a bit longer as the ground becomes softer, the standard of scoring was good as a score of more than 40 points was required to break into the top six overall places.

Scotsman Ian Forrest scored 43 points to take first prize overall as well as the Division 3 prize. Forrest also received a one-stroke cut in handicap, dropping him to 19.

Second place was claimed by Lachlan Cox just a point behind on 42. Lachlan also won Division 2 and had a one-shot cut in handicap to 17.

Vice-captain James Cuthbert finished in third on 41 points. Cuthbert also won Division 1. Chris Thompson, Keith Seymour and Tim Hanton all matched Cuthbert’s score but, after the countback rule was applied, it was Thompson who took fourth overall with Seymour and Hanton finishing fifth and sixth respectively.

In the ladies’ December medal Pamela Graddon claimed the win and was the only lady to beat her handicap. Graddon returned 39 points to win by three from Jill Lupton and ladies’ captain Penny Holmes, who both carded 36. Lupton secured second place on countback with Holmes third.
