Shurman leads way at Badgemore

BADGEMORE PARK held their first medal competition of the season on Saturday and Sunday.

BADGEMORE PARK held their first medal competition of the season on Saturday and Sunday.

Conditions on Saturday were more suited to better golf and the results reflected this. Division 1 was won by Stuart Shurman with a creditable 73 giving him a net 65.

The Saturday results were as follows: Division 1, 1 S Shurman 73-8=65, 2 R Harris 82-13=69, 3 M Moore 79-10=69; Division 2, 1 M Gross 83-17=66, 2 M Tracy 84-16=68, 3 D Weston 90-19=71; Division 3, 1 N Palmer, 40 points, 2 A Cobb 35, 3 E Marwood, 34.

The Sunday results were as follows: Division 1, N Cole 82-8=74, 2 A Wellman 86-11=75, 3 A Harris-White 83-7=76; Division 2, 1 J Bowers 83-14=69, 2 B Spisto 91-16=75, 3 S Arlett, 93-17=76; Division 3, 1 E Marwood, 35 points, 2 G Cheese, 34, 3 L Hines, 33.

David Stankard emerged triumphant in a tight finish to Division 1 of the weekend Stableford at Caversham Heath.



Stankard scored 37 points to win by one point from Russell Coombes with 36. Third was Paul Clemas with 35.

It was equally as tight at the top of Division 2 where Mark Farrington claimed the top spot with 39 points. Runner-up was Philip Wise with 38 and third was Stephen Hughes with 37. Division 3 winner was Stephen Girling with 40 points. Second was Joshua Wilde with 38 and third was Kevin Hall with 33.

Stankard also featured prominently in the three-person team event, winning the competition with Edward Houghton and Anne Smith with 83 points.

Runners-up were Michael Beaumont, Mervyn Jones and Gary King with 79 points. Third were Richard Serrano, Joe Saunders and James Saunders with 77.

Matt Robertson won the junior Stableford with 38 points. Runner-up was Thomas Parker with 35 and third Will Tate with 33.
