Taylor lifts inaugural Hemani Trophy

HENLEY Golf Club ran the inaugural Joe Hemani Trophy competition last Sunday open to all sections of the club and the prize was for the trophy donated by the past club chairman.

The winner of the trophy was 19 handicapper Matt Taylor who recorded a net 65 to take the top spot and the trophy.

The club’s professional’s wife Sandie Howell scored a net 67 to take the runner-up spot which was a shot better than John Bates, John Rowland and Janet Lawson.

Ladies’ champion Sarah Arnold, Henry Day and Adam Taylor were three of only eight players who beat their handicap in a field of 128 entrants in a day of difficult scoring.

Sarah Arnold also played well in the ladies’ Stableford, Pedlar Cup and Hurst Trophies played last Tuesday. Arnold recorded 37 points to take Division 1 on countback from Karen Pollard.



Clare Dodds and Rachel Hall were second and third respectively with 35 points.

Caroline Archibald, ladies’ captain from 2011, recorded 36 points to take Division 2 which was two points better than Lyn McAlpine.

Erica Brady recorded a score of 41 points to claim Division 3 and the Pedlar Cup which was eight points better than second placed Miriam Dalton.

Tthe countback rule decided Division 4 where Tracey Ellis won the Hurst Trophy with 39 points from Nikki Donohoe.
