Callaway leads the way

HENLEY held their annual pro-am last Sunday in difficult wet conditions.

The winning pro was David Callaway from Foxhills Golf Club with a score of -5 (65) mostly attributed to his scoring on the four par fives where he recorded two eagles and two birdies.

The runner-up spot was shared between Kevin Tilbury (Hazlemere), Paul Simpson (West Berkshire) and Chris Rodgers (unattached) with 66s.

Dan Seymour (Caversham Heath) and Tim Spence of The Golf College recorded 67 to take the lower placings. The team event was won by the last group going out consisting of Mike Prince, Ben Pontin, Anthony Allen and pro Jamie Cook from Heythrop Park resort with a score of -16.

The team of Jock Lowe, Eric Wilson, Dennis Oliver and pro Guy Shoesmith from West Hill Golf Club with a score of -13 beat the quartet of club champion Brad Young, Nick Stevens, Steve Coltman and pro David Osbourne from West Hill Golf Club on countback. There were individual prizes for Angus Harris-White, Tim Soper, Sally Woolven, Danny Franks, Ian Brady, Mike Lowe and Matthew Gladdish.
