Thomas has handicap reduced following win

THE annual running of the Floate Cup at Henley Golf Club resulted in a win

THE annual running of the Floate Cup at Henley Golf Club resulted in a win for third team captain Bob Thomas and a large reduction in his handicap.

Thomas, playing off 11 before the event, found himself playing off eight after a gross 77 (net 66) as he took home the spoils.

Roger Norris was runner-up with a net 68 on countback from Steve Hobbs whilst a whole host of players recorded net 70s to take the lower placings.

The “No Tee Reservation” medal held last Sunday saw 28 handicapper William Lebeau taking the top spot with a net 65 which was a shot better than Jeff Carter who took the runner-up spot on countback from John Chaytor.

Matt Hele was fourth with a net 67 which was a shot better than Matthew Gladdish.



The ladies’ section held their medal in conjunction with the Rouquette Qualifier and Maddy Field took Division 1 with a net 64 which was four shots better than runner-up Muriel Quinsac who in turn was four shots better than Maggi Buffin, Karen Pollard and Sarah Arnold.

Gill Mitchell was successful in Division 2 with a net 70 which was four shots better than Ngairey Palin whilst Fay Ahara pipped Christine Valentine to third place on countback with net 75s.

Division 3 was won by Tracey Ellis with a good score of 67 which was three shots better than the inform Josie Heayns. Tina Dalzell, Delia Norris and Mary Smith recorded net 71s to take the lower placings.

Jill Irwin took Division 4 with a net 68 which was three shots better than runner-up Pat Woodford whilst Pat Melling took third spot on countback with net 72 from Elaine Dudeney and Irene Ferretti.
