MATTHEW EVANS hit a hole-in-one as he and partner Javier Dieguez won the PJP Cup at Caversham Heath on Saturday.

Nine-handicapper Evans and Dieguez, who plays off 14, amassed 45 points in a better ball competition played off three-quarters handicap.

Thirty-eight pairs contested the annual PJP Cup honours board event, sponsored by member and past captain, Peter Machin.

Evans hit his hole-in-one on the eighth hole â?? a superbly struck seven iron into a stiff breeze proving to be the perfect club.

A solid run of pars afterwards and another birdie from Dieguez resulted in a cup winning performance.

Good scores were posted with 38 points only good enough for tied fifth place.
