Bonney has the edge

DARREN BONNEY held off the challenge of Gareth Goodall to win Division 1 of the Caversham

DARREN BONNEY held off the challenge of Gareth Goodall to win Division 1 of the Caversham Heath weekend Stableford on countback, both players with 39 points.

Bonney recorded two birdies during his round while Goodall had three. A bogey on the last hole cost Chris Green dearly and he had to be content with third place on 38 points. Despite the bogey Green still carded a back nine of 22 points.

Division 2 winner was Richard Norris with 41 points, despite finishing with two bogeys. Runner-up was Damien Cleary on countback from Colin Stoute who had double bogeys on each of his last two holes. Both players scored 39 points.

Andy Holmes carded 21 points on his front nine and came back with 22 points for a total of 43 points to win Division 3. Jason Springer claimed second spot, on countback from Gordon Berry, both with 38. Berry ended with a double bogey, four bogeys and a triple bogey in his last six holes.

Alex Easter, Greg McDonald, Matt Robertson and Jon Winstanley carded 59 to win the delayed Guy Fawkes four-player scramble played off one-tenth combined handicap allowance. The event was originally scheduled for the beginning of November, but fell victim to the bad weather.

Second were Matthew Brakspear, James Murphy, Mark Oglesby and Gerry Rogers with 60.6. Third were Darren Bonney, John Downey, Rachel Downey and Matthew Evans, on countback from Michael Beaumont, Sean Houghton, Chris Stacey and Colin Stoute, both fours with 60.8.
