Gibson has the edge

THERE was another tight finish in Division 1 of the monthly weekend Stableford at Caversham Heath.

THERE was another tight finish in Division 1 of the monthly weekend Stableford at Caversham Heath.

Matt Gibson triumphed on countback ahead of Andrew Parker, both with 31 points. Third was Michael Beaumont with 31.

Both Gibson and Parker had front and back nines of 19 and 13 points respectively. However, while Gibson bogeyed the last, Parker scored a double bogey.

Division 2 winner was Greg McDonald who finished seven points clear of his nearest rival on 37 points. His round included eight pars and saw a one shot cut in handicap. Runner-up was Julie Daniels with 30 points and third was Edward Houghton with 29.

Stewart Ostler claimed the Division 3 top spot with 29 points. Second was Caroline Dover, who beat her husband and club captain Daniel Dover on countback, both with 25 points.



The midweek Division 1 Stableford was won by Steve Streak with 39 points. Runner-up was Gary King with 37 and third Mervyn Jones with 35.

Division 2 winner was Ralph Lambert with 36 points. Second was Fung Yee Sarah Lau with 34 points and third was Lynne Rumbold with 32.

Fiona Ives took the top spot in the ladies’ Stableford with 36 points. Runner-up was Lynne Rumbold with 32 points and third was Kjersti Cannon with 30.

Archie Smith won the junior Stableford with 33 points ahead of Jack Bristow with 32. Third was James Millard with 31.
