COUNTBACK was needed to decide the winner in two of the three divisions in the weekend
COUNTBACK was needed to decide the winner in two of the three divisions in the weekend medal at Caversham Heath last Sunday.
Jonathan Fleming took the nod in Division 1 from Christopher Humphreys, both on net 75. Third was Matt Sloper on countback from Matt Robertson, both with net 77. Fleming recorded two birdies and an eagle and hung on to clinch top spot despite double bogeying the last. Humphreys had double bogeys on both the 16th and 17th, but parred the last while Sloper had a bogey on the last hole.
Division 2 winner was Chris Stacey on countback from Matthew Evans, both with net 72. Third was Peter Holt with net 74. Stacey recovered from a disastrous six over par score of 10 on the ninth hole to record six pars on the back nine. A bogey, double bogey finish almost saw him lose the top spot, but nearest rival Evans also bogeyed the last.
Adam Paul Baker claimed the Division 3 top prize with net 71. Joshua Wilde was runner-up with net 72 and third was Jane Weller with net 73.
Archie Smith took the honours in the junior medal with net 82. Runner-up was Callum Peart with net 84.
