The 14th Borlase School golf day was held at Henley Golf Club. The winner of the Stableford competition with 101 points was the school’s PE department team made up of director of hockey Nathan Monk and staff members Kevin Chappell, Joe Gleeson and Mike Henderson. The team was called Holt’s Heroes after head of PE Kim Holt who attened the lunch afterwards to see the trophy presentation. The runners-up were FYM United, made up of Borlase old boys and former hockey Olympians Simon Nicklin and Phil McGuire, Jeremy Chinn and John Edwards. Eighty-four players took part and 92 enjoyed the lunch. All 18 holes were sponsored by local businesses. Steve Rider played with a team called the Earlybirds and entertained everyone over lunch with amusing stories from his days as a BBC sports commentator. The event raised more £6,000 which will go towards supporting hockey at the school in conjunction with the fund-raising efforts at Marlow Sports Club.
