FIREFIGHTERS visited the Oratory Preparatory School in Goring Heath to teach the pupils about fire safety.
The crew from Dee Road fire station in Reading, led by watch manager Steve Trenery, arrived in their fire engine.
They showed the children in the pre-prep department their equipment, including the hoses and powerful metal cutters, and then let them get in the vehicle.
They also spoke to them about their jobs and what to do in the event of a fire. The children have been studying the topic “People who help us”.
One of the teachers dressed up in full firefighter gear.
A school spokeswoman said: “The children particularly enjoyed going into the fire engine to get a true taste of life as a firefighter by seeing where the crew sit when they are on their way to a job.
“The visit extended the children’s learning about the emergency services and how they protect our society.”
