Kennylands gymnasts shine at south regional finals

NINE Kennylands gymnasts have qualified for the South Regional Grade finals next month following their performance at Carterton Gymnastics Club in the Oxfordshire NDP Grades and U8s competition.

The Sonning Common-based club came away with numerous gold, silver and bronze medals with Melia Drummond, Alexa Hughes, Tanaya Coultress, Erum Ullah, Autumn Tier, Natalia Wojciechowska, Sienna Cotton, Naomi Haines and Orla Hughes all qualifying for April’s finals. In the U8 category, where gymnasts are awarded ribbons for a specific score, Amy Evans came away with one gold, two silvers and a bronze, Ada Anstey three silvers and a bronze, Betsy Kendall one gold, two silvers and a bronze, Ottilie Davies one gold, silver and bronze, Bailey Blyth four silvers and Florence Major two silvers and a bronze.

In the preparation grade two event, Autum Tier was second on the beam, fourth on the floor and fifth all around while Erum Ullah was first on the bars and fifth on the floor. Both gymnasts achieved “working beyond” in their grade.

In development grade one, Melia Drummond was first on the bars, beam and all around and second on the floor and range and conditioning. Alexa Hughes was first on floor and range and conditioning, second all around and bars, fourth on beam and sixth on the vault while Tanaya Coultress was first on the vault, third on bars and floor, fourth all around and fifth on the beam. In development grade two, Natalia Wojciechowska was first all around, second on beam and fourth on vault, bars, floor and range and conditioning. Sienna Cotton was first on floor, second on vault, fourth all around and fifth on the beam while Naomi Haines was first on bars, second on floor, third on vault and fifth all around.

In development grade three, Orla Hughes was first on bars, beam and all around, second on floor and range and conditioning and third on the vault while Jess Jones was third on bars and floor and fourth on vault, beam and all around.
